I review the beers I drink

Ommegang – 25th Anniversary Ale

My lovely girlfriend got me an advent calendar from the Ommegang brewery, as well as a couple seasonal 12 packs I grabbed  so I’ll be bringing back last year’s blogmas of holiday beer reviews all month long! Day one of the Ommegang calendar was a 12oz can of Rosetta, which I reviewed way back in 2017 in 750ml bottle format.

Moderately hazy and lightly murky with minimal head retention, smells of caramel, toasted bread, and orange peels. The taste is crisp and complex with flavors of toasted biscuits, caramel, black pepper, and maple syrup on an effervescent full body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of grapefruit peel, orange bitters, herbal hops, and grains of paradise. Overall, it’s nicely complex and malty, though also surprisingly hoppy without going overboard. A perfect ale for fireside sipping with good friends.
