I review the beers I drink

Founders – All Day IPA

Ok, back to the mixed sixer I picked up. Usually, if I’m drinking a full flavored beer like an IPA, I want full alcohol, so “Session IPAs” (AKA pale ales) have never been a style I seek out, but I like Founders, so I’ve been wanting to try this for awhile.

Mostly clear, but there is a little fine sediment suspended in there if you look closely. Dominant aroma is of hops, notes of pine, citrus, and pineapple; in that order. Taste is an almost coppery acidity on top of juicy hop bitterness; a toasted breadiness comes through as the full, slick mouthfeel coats the tongue fully. Finish is mildy bitter, and somewhat acidic, reminiscent of black coffee. Honestly, not bad, good hop flavor, there’s balance, but it does feel like it’s a better beer just watered down. And that acidity throws me for a loop; not off-putting, but at times it kinda feels like I have a liquid well-hopped penny in my mouth.
