Dave Drinks Beer

I review the beers I drink

Sam Adams – Rebel Rouser IPA

My favorite -PAs are DIPAs, so I picked up Sam’s offering. Crystal clear, smells of resinous hops, reminiscent of 90 Minute, but with a HUGE malt profile, notes of caramel and sourdough. Thick, intense, almost syrupy hop bitterness coats your tongue, again like 90 Minute, I suspect this beer is continuously hopped. This is held up by a heavy, bready, lightly smoky malt base backed by a full mouthfeel; finish is peppery hop bitterness, like a Boston Lager with the bitterness doubled. Honestly, I like it, the alcohol is hidden well, and the hops deliver while still being balanced. I’d totally drink this again if I’m in the mood for 90 Minute and can’t find it.
