Pours a deep, dark crimson hue, smells of coffee, caramel, and vanilla. The taste is subtly sweet with a savory warmth, and flavors of caramel, roasted malts, raisins, and vanilla on a smooth medium body. The finish is long and lightly tannic, featuring notes of salted caramel, smoked gouda, chocolate, and burnt vanilla. Overall, this is a very intriguing wine, more reminiscent of a barrel aged barleywine than an actual wine, but it’s complex and extraordinarily drinkable; definitely a memorable experience.
