Flashlight shows a lightly hazy bright burnt orange color with minimal head retention, smells of caramel, honey, and booze. The taste is crisp and funky with notes of toasted bread, caramel, brown sugar, and Belgian yeast funk on a medium body. The finish is long and moderately bitter, featuring notes of herbal, floral, and spicy hops with a touch of alcohol warmth. Overall, this is a solid Belgian dark ale, malty and complex, but still balanced and refreshing. I don’t have this style often, but would certainly drink it again if I was in the mood for something fancy.
