Pours a clear chestnut color with light head retention, smells of lightly roasted malts, very faint spices and even fainter alcohol. The taste is crisp and spicy with notes of toasted bread, caramel, vanilla, and just a hint of chocolate and cardamom. The finish is long and moderately bitter with notes of herbal and spicy hops and a touch of ground cardamom bitterness. Overall, it’s not bad, the hops and malts are well balanced, and the vanilla rounds out the flavor well, but honestly I was most excited for this beer because I love cardamom and the flavor just doesn’t really come through.
