Pours a deep auburn color with lots of visible sediment floating around and zero head retention, smells of raisins, caramel, and booze. The taste is sweet and lightly peppery from the wheat, with caramel, raisin, and vanilla flavors beneath the slick, full body. The finish is long and moderately bitter with notes of herbal hops, oak, and booze. Overall, I really can’t tell the difference between this and the 2019 Wheatwine, save for being perhaps a bit smoother from the extra year of bottle aging. Not really worth the effort to seek this one out, the 2020 Caramella is better.
