Flashlight reveals a deep blood red hue, smells of black cherry, oak, and aromatic pipe tobacco. The taste is semi-dry with a notes of cherry and citrus on a bed of leather and medium rare steak; body is smooth and rather thick for a wine. The finish is long and fully dry, with notes of grapefruit, basil, and earth. Overall, a very unique wine, it really reminds me of a bloody steak with a cherry pan sauce, mashed potatoes, asparagus, really evoking a full meal in my mind with just a sip. Would love to try such a pairing in the future.
