A beer with excellent head retention, the flashlight hows a slightly hazy deep ruby color; smells of intensely smoky malts, dark roasted coffee and hints of chocolate. The taste is crisp and almost acrid with notes of charred toast and dark chocolate with a subtle coffee like acidity and a thick, full body. The finish is moderate in bitterness and duration, with notes of herbal hops and residual malt smokiness. Overall, this is a very well made beer, simple in its design yet immensely complex, this is a true craft beer.
