I review the beers I drink

Weihenstephaner – Hefeweissbier

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet, an old favorite from the world’s oldest brewery. Hazy with decent head retention, smells of soft fresh dough and a light banana fruitiness from the yeast. The taste is crisp, crackery wheat up front, with a nuanced sweet and fruity undertone of slightly overripe fruit; body is medium. The finish is an extension of this, mostly clean with low bitterness, the ripe banana flavor taking center stage amidst some light herbal hopping. Overall, it’s the original hefeweizen, setting the standard for all that came after it.
