A fall IPA in late winter? A brewery branded glass featuring a logo that is never visible when beer is in it? Whatever, it’s beer.
Clear with a thick, fluffy head, smells of faint pine and citrus hop notes, a bit of coppery penny too for some reason. The taste is crisp and spicy, notes of toasted bread, cracked pepper, and a hint of hop oils, very similar to Boston Lager’s malt profile; body is full. The finish is dry and smooth, lots of herbal and citrus hop notes, a little resinous at times, but all blended together into a smooth, moderately bitter finale with a subtle warmth underneath. Overall, this is a little unexpected this time of year, as was the aroma, but beyond that, this is a fantastic red IPA with an excellent, bold malt kick first, followed by a smooth hop comedown that shows real finesse on the part of the brewers.
