I review the beers I drink

Ommegang – Abbey Ale Dubbel

Flashlight shows a hazy mahogany hue, smells of caramel, toffee, raisins, yeasty funk and alcohol; light head retention. The taste is semi crisp, with notes of toasted bread and subtle coffee, but there is a stone fruit sweetness underneath it all and a medium body. The finish is long but low in bitterness, some herbal and spicy hops notes but also some residual sweetness and Belgian funk along with alcoholic warmth. Overall, this is an amazing ale, extremely complex and well balanced; superb.
